Association of Corporate Contributions Professionals

Advocacy & Representation

ACCP monitors legislative and regulatory proposals on behalf of its member companies.

When feasible, the Association works in partnership with other organizations to carry out its public policy objectives. ACCP's principal partner is the US Chamber of Commerce Center for Corporate Citizenship.

ACCP occasionally develops position papers on key issues affecting the corporate contributions, community relations and employee volunteer fields. With a 501(c)(6) tax status, ACCP can press for legal and tax changes to make corporate contributions activities more effective, for example:

  • 990 Reform: Government interest in stemming charity abuses by restructuring the nonprofit annual reporting system needs to include more input from the corporate community.
  • Patriot Act Reform: Revisions in the U.S. Domestic Security Enhancement Act (Patriot Act) need to address requirements imposed on corporate donors.
  • Allowable Charitable Deductions: Since corporate charitable tax deductions (related to specific kinds of product donations) may soon be under review, businesses need to be clearly represented.
