Location Information

Orlando, nicknamed "The City Beautiful," is best known for having a significant amount of theme park type attractions including Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando. These attractions as well as its pleasant climate help make Orlando a popular tourist attraction both domestically and internationally. Orlando was the most visited American city in 2009 by Forbes. In addition to the vast amount of tourist attractions, Central Florida is also home to the NBA’s Orlando Magic.

Fun Facts about Orlando

  • ACCP members who call Central Florida home are Darden Restaurants, Orlando Magic, Publix Super Markets, Inc., Tupperware Brands Corporation and Walt Disney World. Additionally, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida is located in nearby Jacksonville, FL.
  • It would take roughly 67 days to visit all of the entertainment offerings in Orlando.
  • In all, Orlando’s retail offerings are vast enough to fill 900 American football fields. Within a 15-mile (24-kilometer) radius in the heart of Orlando’s attractions area, visitors will find 12 amazing shopping malls and factory outlet centers.
  • Orlando is home to approximately 176 golf courses including Bay Hill where The Arnold Palmer Invitational, presented by MasterCard, is played each year. The dates for the 2012 golf tournament are March 19-25.
  • Orlando is set to host the 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend at the Amway Center.
  • The second largest university in the country in terms of enrollment, the University of Central Florida, is located in Orlando.
  • Jack Kerouac lived in the College Park neighborhood of Orlando during the time his novel On the Road was published in 1957.

Typical Weather

During the spring, Orlando temperatures are warm but still enjoyable. The average high temperature for March is around 78 degrees Fahrenheit with the lows in the mid-50s. Rainfall starts to increase in March while humidity stays relatively low. When traveling to the Orlando area, it's a good idea to pack rain jackets and umbrellas as quick afternoon showers are a regular occurrence.
