ACCP: The Conference 2018 RFP

The purpose of this RFP is to solicit proposals for speakers for ACCP: The Conference 2018. ACCP is seeking conference speakers for both general sessions and learning labs (breakouts) who have the ability to be engaging while educating conference participants. Please read the entire document for background information and details.

Speaker proposals are due: August 4, 2017.

Speakers should tailor their messages to the audience and empower the participants to apply the information to their real-world challenges. A session that is practical in nature is considered a successful session. The applicability of the content is the most important part of all of the sessions at the Conference. Speakers should provide resources, reinforcement and materials to help participants deepen their knowledge of the concept. Various formats are encouraged including (but not limited to) workshops, panels, case studies, hands on activities, group discussions, point/counterpoint etc.

2018 Conference Focus:

The conference’s main goal is to improve the attendees’ jobs and professional capacities.  In 2018, The Conference intends to elevate the conversation around Corporate Responsibility.  Topics perceived as highly desired will center around:  

  1. What’s Next? – disruptive forces, trends, etc.
  2. Collaboration – both internal with other departments and external with community partners.
  3. Efficiency – ways to get the job done using existing resources and/or ways to prioritize the work.  

General Session Information and Formats

General Sessions range in length from 30-75 minutes. Average attendance is about 240 people. We are seeking the following formats in 2018: panels, facilitated fireside chats, point/counterpoint, keynotes that take advantage of the audience seated in rounds for small table discussions.

Desired General Session Topics (in addition to the above)

  1. The CEO perspective on CR
  2. Integrating CR into various departments, particularly when told by a leader in the other department or in a joint session with the CR leader.
  3. The Intersection of CR with social issues.
  4. The process of winning over the C-Suite
  5. Building cross-sector partnerships with multiple stakeholders
  6. Inspirational speeches  

Please feel free to suggest a potential topic if you think it would be a valuable addition to the conference but does not fit under any of the above.

Learning Lab (Breakout) Information and Formats

The 2018 Learning Labs will be 60 minutes long and are focused around actionable take-aways for participants. Average attendance is about 30-40 people. The Learning Labs MUST allow an ample amount of interaction and discussion. Learning Labs that have been rated favorably in the past moved beyond a session only about one company to a dialogue about an issue or topic. The format can vary from a true workshop to an open audience dialogue depending on the topic.

 Desired Learning Lab Session Topics (in addition to the above)

  1. Employee Engagement: innovative program ideas, working with HR, getting middle managers involved
  2. Diversity and Inclusion
  3. Measuring the impact of CR work on both the community and the business
  4. Professional Development
  5. The Overhead Myth for CR: how to secure funding and support
  6. NGO partnership examples
  7. Working with other departments (Marketing, HR, Communications) – Particular interest in co-presented sessions
